Aspen Ladd signs with PFL after UFC release

Aspen Ladd signs with PFL after UFC release.

Aspen Ladd was one of the UFC’s promising stars, UFC president Dana White even spoke highly of her on several occasions. But after several incidents on the scales, including the cancelation of her fight with Sara McMann at UFC Vegas 61 due to a weight miss, she was released by the promotion.

“We tried to work with her. She’s a great kid. She’s a really nice person. It’s never fun when you have someone’s who’s actually talented – She’s a talented fighter, but part of the job is making weight,” White said during a post-fight press conference. “She’s not made weight so many times. It had to happen. Not something you want to do, but something that had to be done.”

But she isn’t going to remain unemployed for long, Ladd has signed with the PFL and she will be fighting in the 145-pound division.

“I want to thank the Professional Fighters League for giving me the opportunity to continue my career in the PFL SmartCage,” Ladd said, in a released statement. “I am excited about the PFL’s sport season format where you win and advance based on talent and merit. I look forward to testing myself against the best women’s featherweights in the world.”

She will likely make her PFL debut in 2023, unless she’d included in their PFL Finals which take place in November.
