Eagle FC 47 will see Roosevelt Roberts take the next step in his career.
Eagle FC 47 is bolstered by legends Junior dos Santos and Hector Lombard, and most of the fans tuning in are doing so to see them touch some form of their former glory. Yet, Lombard and dos Santos are not the only reason to watch the event. Shocking, I know. While Eagle FC is building its brand on former UFC stars, they do have some younger talents worth watching, even if they’re also from the UFC. The guy you want to keep an eye on at Eagle FC 47 is Roosevelt Roberts.
Roberts, who had a fight in Bellator before ending up on Dana White’s Contender Series event, came into the UFC with a lot of hype. He was 8-0 heading into his fight with Vinc Pichel, which he ended up losing. Yet, he won his next two, bringing his UFC record up to 4-1. After that, he suffered losses to Jim Miller and Ignacio Bahamondes, what would’ve been a third loss to the hands of Kevin Croom, which was overturned and ruled a no contest after Croom popped in his post-fight drug test.
After a 4-3-1 UFC run, he was let go. He’s still just 28-years-old and has a solid record of 11-3. He’s among the younger fighters in Eagle FC and has a chance of becoming something for the brand.
Alexandre Almeida will be a tough task for Roosevelt Roberts
Roberts will have to bring his A-game against his Eagle 47 opponent, Alexandre Almeida. Almeida isn’t a threat to go down in the history books as an all-time great, but the 33-year-old is battle-tested and was a tough out for anyone in the Pro Fighters League from 2015 to 2019.
After a nearly three-year hiatus, Almeida is back and the submission specialist shouldn’t be overlooked. Roberts is going to have his hands filled, but a win over Almeida may be exactly what Roberts needs to be seen as a rising prospect once again.
